Q: So how's the holidays - got your shopping done? Enough small talk...what's going on at Syncros? Were you bought out? Why don't I see your steel cranks on the web anymore? Where did the flat bars go? Can you still make 1 inch/quill stems for mountain bikes? ...PLEASE don't become another standard components only company!!!

Thanks, David Spear

A: Yo Dave-ster - my holidays are great thanks to the SyncroStore! Here's the dope on Syncros. We moved to sunny Santa Ana, CA, thank God - no more rainy Vancouver, Canada. High labor rates and horrible governmental taxes just didn't cut it so G.T. Bicycles bought the assets of Syncros and the principals of the company (me/Brutus, Peter Hamilton and Leana Trogi). We run our own show here (could you guess from our site?) as a separate entity as a brand of GT. Steel cranks - sorry Spear-man, they're just too darned expensive to manufacture. The new crank design is on the drawing board and hope to start showing it off by mid 2001. It will kick-butt - believe me! Flat bars; still available. If you look at size availability on our site you'll see them listed. Hit the "Buy It" button on the handlebar page. Unfortunately we can't set up to do any custom orders - it's just way too cost prohibitive. We won't become just a standard component company unless simple math dictates. C'mon back and abuse us anytime"

Q: I want to see action pic's of your wife and kids trying to destroy Synchros components. That is IF you still have a family???

Your unbreakable Synchros fan, Stefdoo

A: Dear Unbreakable – The family is still tight - in fact we were bonding over Christmas; baking pies and abusing parts. Maybe the little woman has a photo I can post online- check back soon. Keep those cards and letters coming!

Q: I'm thinking about using a Syncros MTB stem with a Titec 118 Ti flat handlebar and want to know if they are compatible in terms of the Titec shim being wide enough for the Syncros hinged stem clamp, or is clamping pressure an issue?

Thanks. Brian Reise

A: Dear Tryin' Brian – Syncros MTN stem clamp width is 2-1/4", 57.15mm. As long as the shim on the Titec bar is at least that long you should be alright.

Q: " I'm trying to find out what the AWP of your Headshock stem is. My LBS is somewhat sluggish in getting me an answer. Perhaps you would like to whip them into shape? Brett

A: Yo Brettster... I thought I was hip with the current vernaculars but I'll admit defeat on this one. Probably too many hits to my head. AWP? Average white p....? C'mon ... - whip me into shape and clue me in – what'cha talkin' bout Willis?

Q: How come Syncros doesn't make Ti posts anymore?

A Because Ti is way expensive and carbon fibre has far superior strength and durability properties, yet it still provides a plush ride and tastes better.

Q: I was out of hair product and I used Pedro's ice wax instead. I can't get it out now. What should I do?

A: Shave your head.
